Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

1. Who we are

Home Solar Power Systems operates the website homesolarpowersystems.co.uk. We are a UK-based lead generation service that connects homeowners with MCS-certified solar panel installers.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your personal data, please contact us via our online contact form.

2. What information we collect

We collect information in two ways:

Information you provide

When you submit a quote request through our website, we collect your name, email address, phone number, postcode, and basic property details (such as property type and roof type). Providing this information is voluntary, but it is necessary for us to match you with suitable local installers.

Information collected automatically

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website. This collects your IP address (which Google anonymises), the pages you visit, how long you spend on each page, and the device and browser you are using. This data is aggregated and used only to improve our website.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To match you with MCS-certified solar installers who can provide quotes relevant to your location and property.
  • To respond to any direct enquiries you send us.
  • To improve the content and usability of our website, based on aggregated analytics data.

Our lawful basis for processing your quote request data is your consent, which you give when you submit the form. Our lawful basis for analytics is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, PECR). We only use analytics cookies if you click “Accept analytics” on our cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

4. Who we share your information with

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

Solar installers

When you submit a quote request, we share your contact details and property information with a small number of MCS-certified solar installers in your area. These installers will contact you directly to discuss your requirements and provide a quote. We only share your data with installers who hold a valid MCS certification at the time of your request.

Google Analytics

Anonymised usage data is shared with Google via Google Analytics 4. Google may process this data on servers outside the UK. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes.

5. Your rights under UK GDPR

Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access. You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure. You can ask us to delete your personal data where there is no compelling reason for us to continue processing it.
  • Right to restrict processing. You can ask us to pause processing your data in certain circumstances, for example while a complaint is being investigated.
  • Right to object. You can object to us processing your data where we are relying on a legitimate interest as our lawful basis.
  • Right to data portability. You can ask us to provide your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format, or to transfer it directly to another organisation.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via our online contact form. We will respond within one calendar month. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

6. Cookies

We only use analytics cookies if you consent. The first time you visit, a banner at the bottom of the page asks you to choose “Accept analytics” or “Reject”, with equal prominence. Until you accept, we set no analytics cookies. Also, we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4)

Only after you accept, GA4 sets these cookies to measure website traffic and user behaviour in aggregate. Specifically:

  • _ga — distinguishes visitors; typically lasts 2 years.
  • _ga_<id> (for our property, _ga_C6XD09SZTR) — keeps session state; typically lasts 2 years.

If you reject, however, Google Analytics runs in a restricted mode. It sets no cookies and stores no identifiers on your device.

Your choice, and how to change it

We remember your choice in your browser’s local storage (key hsps-consent-v1), not in a cookie. Therefore you can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” button in the footer of every page — or here: . This clears your saved choice and shows the banner again. Alternatively, you can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by adjusting your browser’s cookie settings.

We do not use cookies for advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking.

7. Data retention

We retain the personal data you submit through our quote request form for a maximum of 12 months from the date of submission, after which it is securely deleted. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will do so promptly.

Analytics data collected via Google Analytics 4 is retained in accordance with the retention settings configured in our GA4 property, currently set to 14 months. For more detail, please refer to Google's data retention documentation.

8. How to contact us

If you have any questions about this privacy policy, wish to exercise your data rights, or have a concern about how we have handled your personal data, please contact us via our online contact form.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
